Fast food chain Roy Rogers is making its return to South Jersey for the first time in decades.
The Maryland-based company, known for its burgers, roast beef sandwiches and signature Fixins Bar of toppings, is set to open in Cherry Hill in spring 2025. An official opening date has yet to be announced.
Roy Rogers’ new South Jersey spot will be located at 614 Haddonfield Rd., in a 3,300-square-foot building that formerly housed PDQ before it abruptly closed last November.
“We could not be happier to bring our USDA choice top round roast beef, juicy burgers and fresh, hand-breaded fried chicken back to Cherry Hill,” Jim Plamondon, co-president of Roy Rogers Restaurants, said. “Roy’s legacy fans will be thrilled to see the iconic Fixin’s Bar and use our signature sauces to customize their favorite sandwiches and tenders. New guests will be pleased with our diverse menu and quality beef, burgers and chicken you can’t find anywhere else.”
The fast food chain made its departure from South Jersey and the Philadelphia region in the 1980s.
It currently operates two New Jersey locations (Brick and Pine Beach) and 38 total locations throughout six states: Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia.
The eatery’s menu includes burgers, roast beef sandwiches, fried chicken, breakfast sandwiches, milkshakes and more. The popular Fixin’s Bar includes sliced tomatoes, onion, pickles and lettuce to be used for burgers.
Roy Rogers restaurants were popular throughout the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, operating over 600 locations in the Northeast. The chain’s physical footprint began to decline in the ‘90s after parent company, the Marriott Corp., sold its rights to Hardee’s.
“We’ve received an overwhelming number of requests from loyal Roy Rogers fans for a location in this area, and we’re delighted to make it a reality. We plan to build on this success and expand even further in the market,” Joe Briglia, director of real estate and franchise development, said.
