Description
THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!Up for sale is our beautiful 1972 Volkswagon Westfalia Camper.
It looks beautiful inside and out and is a very cozy camper. We recently had a child and I do not see us able to camp much in the coming years, so its time to let it go to someone who can get some use out of it!
THE BODY:
We have had it for a few years, and the previous owner had the body work and paint done in 2008. It looks good, but there are a couple of areas starting to form small rust bubbles. The body is in very strait condition with no evidence of accidents. The window seals were replaced when the bus was painted, and they look like new. The pop top camper is the upgraded three-window version, and is in like new condition. This bus has been garage kept since I have owned it, and it hasnt even been rained on.
MECHANICLY:
Since I have owned the bus, we have had the engine rebuilt including brand new heads. The engine fires right up and idles smoothly. The carbs have been recently cleaned and tuned. All fuel lines were changed our during the rebuild. The brakes were fully replaced and stop very well. The tires are brand new with less than 10 miles, and they are the correct heavy duty tires that VW buses need. The bus starts, stops, and drives as it should, but it has not had much use over the past couple of years, so I recommend trailering/towing the bus home if you're going long distances. I have a custom made tow bar available at additional costs if desired.
INTERIOR:
The interior has been redone with vinyl seat covers that are exactly like to original (the original are included in the sale as well). There is a full set of brand new curtains installed including the front cab! Carpet has been laid over the rear cab area that is brand new. The front rubber mat is brand new. the front door panels are brand new. The Westfalia sink/icebox is installed, but can easily be removed for a more practical camping setup. The upper cot is in good shape, and also included is the rare front child's cot.
Although it is good shape overall, it is almost 50 years old. I have not had any time to work on the bus, and it needs about a weeks worth of work to really get finished up. Here is a list of the things it needs to be perfect:
-Heater blower not installed, but included in sale
-Driver side mirror is slightly loose
-cargo door works well, but will occasionally slide off track if
mishandled
-sink water pump is not fully installed, as we prefer to camp without the icebox/sink in the bus
-There is no radio, although there are cutouts for 6x9 speakers in the rear cabin
-driver side front reflector is cracked
-headlights could use LED upgrade. They work fine, but are far dimmer than modern headlights
-gas gauge not working
-luggage rack slats were removed when painted
-120v plug not working, but we camped with an extension cord running to the bus.
That seems like a long list, but these are all minor issues I have wanted to get to, but there just isn't enough time in the day. Please reach out to me to schedule a test drive. I am available in Richmond, VA (23225) most days. I can be reached at 8zero4-4one8-9five71.
0 non-refundable deposit due at close of auction. For long distance or international shipping, I am happy to work with any shipping company, and I can deliver the bus to the Port of Norfolk, Virginia.
Thank you!
