VOLKSWAGEN VANAGON WESTFALIA CAMPER WITH CALIFORNIA-LEGAL SUBARU ENGINE CONVERSION1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Full Camper Van with Subaru 2.2 engine with Kennedy Engineering California-legal CARB sticker conversion.
132,000 original miles on the van and the interior is unmolested and in excellent condition. Sink, Stove and Refrigerator show little use and refrigerator actually makes ice cubes.
Has OEM rear bug screen.
No mold on the inside poptop roof; mattress pads are decent; poptop canvas is fair but usable
Some typical peeling of contact paper in spots, but not bad
No front table
Subaru A/C works very well.
Non-interference Subaru 2.2 MPFI 16-valve engine, with approximately 64K miles, just about doubles the horsepower of the original VW 1.9 Waterboxer and is far superior and much more dependable, and almost silent at idle. Pulls hills easily in 3rd/4th gear.
4-speed manual transmission with good clutch and GoWesty shifter extension
Upgrades & Mods:
Larger front disc brakes from an '87 Vanagon
Front seats with armrests from '87 as well
New Kumho tires with good spare
Air shocks in rear
Steel bumpers front & rear with receiver hitch in rear
Larger propane tank
HD/LED headlights in custom grill, and LED side markers
Bluetooth DVD/CD player with 9” screen and backup camera and 4 new Pioneer speakers
LED dash & interior lights
Hardwood laminate floor
Roof racks and side ladder
Body is straight, accident-free with a few dimples and small creases
Paint shines but is worn and the van would be happy with fresh paint at some point
Needs some minor TLC:
Steering rack boots need replacing (left undone in case new owner wants to put in power steering--reservoir already there)
One heater cable may need replacing
Battery light is on b/c of conversion—no problem with alternator or battery, just haven't tracked down the right wire yet
Clean title. Just smogged for California. Registration good until November.
Happy to assist with shipping/pickup which is at buyer's expense
